Acer Aspire 3 A315-31-C0NX Review, 15 inch black Apollo Lake at 349 €

The Acer Aspire A315-31-C0NX is a new entry-level 15-inch laptop for office use. From its basic base consisting of a Dual Core Celeron Apollo Lake, 4 GB of RAM and storage of good capacity, we will especially remember its chassis all finesse (21 mm) with neat finishes and its satisfactory connections . It is displayed at less than 350 euros.

From the point of view of design, the Acer Aspire A315-31-C0NX favors sobriety with a completely black hull. Good point, Acer looks after the finishes with a cover with a raised grid and a brushed metal keyboard. The ensemble gains in elegance thanks to a refined silhouette (21,6 mm). Let's also note the presence of a numeric keypad, where more and more 15 inches prefer to remove it to compact the chassis. Not surprisingly, the keyboard is not backlit and the touchpad is clickable but the chassis has the advantage of offering a maintenance door to upgrade the storage.

The autonomy should hardly reach the 5 hours in Internet browsing with Wifi active, it is in the middle low.

In terms of performance, the PC is based on a very low power Celeron Dual Core N3350 processor supported by 4 GB of RAM, a duo that can perform basic office tasks such as Internet browsing, video playback or work on Office. Nevertheless, if you try to launch more demanding applications or you push a little too multitasking, it can very quickly lose its resources.

The storage is entrusted to a hard disk of 500 GB. It is lower than the standard of 1000 GB but sufficient to contain most of your toy library. Replacing it with a 2.5 "SSD would allow a much more responsive and silent system to be used thanks to passive cooling, especially since access to the storage bay is facilitated by the presence of a hatch of maintenance.

On the screen, the report is in line with what is expected of a 15-inch at this rate, namely a standard definition (1366 x 768 pixels), a brilliant treatment that reveals the colors but promotes reflections in bright environments and the support of a TN panel, with narrow viewing angles and medium colorimetry.

To finish on the connectors, it is rather honest even if the optical drive is no longer part. There is an SD card reader, an HDMI output and three USB ports including a USB 3.0. To facilitate data transfers, Ethernet Gigabit and the latest generation of the Wifi AC module are also part of it, as well as a Bluetooth 4.0 chip.

Our opinion (September 2017): The Acer Aspire A315-21-97JA is currently available at Amazon at 349 euros and distinguishes itself from the competition on our price comparison thanks to its profile refined to the neat design.
